Large icons for Security, Privacy, and Performance dominate the main portion of the dark-themed window.

A banner across the top reflects security status. It has a left-rail menu that lets you choose Status, Security, Privacy, or Performance. This suite’s main window looks almost exactly like that of Avast Free Security. McAfee wants $159.99 per year, but that subscription gets you protection for every Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS device in your household. An $83.99 yearly payment gets you five Avira licenses, the same price as BullGuard and a good bit less than most competing products. You can also pay $70.99 for three licenses, rather less than the almost $80 three-license price for Bitdefender Internet Security, ESET, Kaspersky, or Trend Micro Internet Security. In fact, that $71.88 is simply 12 times the per-month price, so $57.99 is the correct yearly list price. On Avira's shopping page it looks like the $57.99 per year price is marked down from a list price of $71.88. What’s the Price of Avira Internet Security? Avira Internet Security is that basic suite, but paying for it gets you little that’s not already in Avira Free Security. The company has de-emphasized its free antivirus to focus on a free suite, a basic suite, and an all-inclusive mega-suite. Some take it a step beyond the basic suite, adding a feature-rich mega-suite, or cross-platform protection.

Many security product lines start with a basic antivirus tool, then entice the security-conscious with a full security suite that adds a firewall, spam filtering, parental control, backup, or whatever additional components they consider significant.
